Powerpoint Design Rationale

Conducting the power-point on Jason Mraz was simple for me as I am fairly familiar with the power-point software. To begin the power-point presentation, I created five slides and made the background of each slide solid black.

I wanted the title slide to be short, but still get it's point across. This is why I enlarged the photo of Jason Mraz making it the focal point of the slide and fading in his name along with my name and the date.

The second slide, was one of the longest, as it had the most information to present. I used the swish animation on the title, fun facts as I thought it came in with the music well. Then I used the bounce animation at a very fast speed to get all of the test in as soon as possible. Then I forced the audience to pay attention to each point individually as I dimmed faded out each point once at a time.

The third slide was simple. I inserted an image of the album cover of the song that I chose to animate along with the titles and times of each other song on the album. I used the same technique on this slide as I used on the one before with the dimming and fading out effect to force the audience to read one thing at a time so they do not feel overwhelmed.

On the fourth slide, I made a table using the shapes tool. I made four rows alternating colors, pink and white and then added three vertical black lines to separate the table into columns as well as rows. Then I inserted all the information and used the zoom affect to make it so that each cell of the table came in with the beat of the music. I also did the same thing using the strips effect for the photos surrounding the table.

For the last and final slide, I gathered multiple Jason Mraz images cropping and resizing them so they all fit on the slide to look aesthetically appealing. Then I assigned each image a different transition and last but not least the link to Jason Mraz's official website.

I used the Handwriting-Dakota font for all text in the power-point as I wanted to keep it consistent. I thought the Hand-writing Dakota font gave it that laid back California feel which is mainly the image that Jason Mraz portrays for himself.

Overall I am happy with my power-point presentation. I think I could have done more with the images and I could have photo-shoped them in some way, but I am very satisfied with the animation. I think all of my animations do exactly what I wanted them to do and they all go with the music.

To create the music for the slides. I used only one song titled "Make it Mine" by Jason Mraz. To create this song I used the first 5 seconds from the beginning of the song, 25 seconds from the middle of the song and 30 seconds from the very end of the song to make it a full one minute. Adding different parts to the song was difficult as I had to make sure each part began and ended on the same notes so it would sound as if it was really just one part of a song being played the entire time.
